About

After Jesus Christ called them to abandon the world and their personal ways of life respectively, Darren Medrano and Dean Schulz were found entering the Adventist church with blistering fire, untiring passion, and unfaltering conviction for truth. Coming out of the darkness with all of its delusions and into the glorious light where reality awaited them, their hearts burned for the souls of those they had involuntarily left behind along with countless millions of other people who were casually going about their daily business without God. From those who would not listen to those who could not understand, each face entangled with their former lives was (and is) a scar to their minds.

Upon entering the church, Dean and Darren were profoundly impressed by the many messages given by various pastors, evangelists, and church members. Many hours were spent online gathering mp3 sermons and downloading speakers’ notes and study guides. By these means, united with deep Bible study and diligent prayer, these two lives were rapidly changed and brought closer to Christ.

It wasn’t long before Dean heard the Lord’s call into full-time ministry. In fact, he longed for the day. Being a graphic designer by trade and owning his own small business, he was growing considerably dissatisfied in his daily work duties. His little company was doing rather well. Sales were steadily rising each month, and God had blessed him richly to be able to provide for his growing family- but creating business cards, car magnets, and t-shirts for other local outfits began to feel like a complete waste of time. In fact, it began to become absolutely unbearable. With each ministry job he accepted came the growing awareness that doing work for the world just isn’t as rewarding. Something needed to change.

Enter Darren Medrano. Fascinated by computers and technology, his left-brain perspective was the perfect complement for the materializing partnership. Penniless and trapped at a dead-end job, he was eager to take his new-found faith to the world- but how? He prayed that God would reveal the answer he knew He had. After months of talk, he left his job in faith to work with Dean at his little shop 20 miles away. Door after door immediately opened, and with no experience in graphic design he enrolled in a college night course and trusted the Lord to fill in the gaps. He would soak in all he could in the real-world environment he had just plunged into while trusting the Lord to bring in the money to make it work. To no surprise, God remained faithful.

Because of their association with the Seventh-day Adventist church, it wasn’t long before word got out about the graphic design duo from Southern California. Dean had already worked with Pastor Ivor Myers on projects for Arme Bible Camp, Power of the Lamb Ministries, United Ministries, and the War In Heaven evangelistic series given at Myers’ home church in Templeton, CA. He had also volunteered to create a web site for an evangelistic series when Amazing Facts’ Darrin Bartell travelled to his home church in So Cal. Even though most of this work was pro-bono, Darren and Dean found themselves longing for the next opportunity to create artwork with a true purpose. Soon enough, they were actively seeking church jobs.

It became a passion. The more work they did, the more people they met. The more people they met, the deeper they found themselves in the world of the Seventh-day Adventist church- and what a wonderful place to be! But one thing was most certainly disappointing: a truly excellent visual presentation was sometimes hard to come by. Many ministries had incredible messages, but lacked any visually compelling element in what they were presenting. Being graphic designers, Dean and Darren noticed this right away- and having such big hearts for the cause of saving the lost, they set out to do something about it. Vision Ministry Media was born.

Some may call it a small role to play in the relaying of the Three Angels’ Messages, but in this modern age, we believe it is a necessary one. As the Bible says in Ephesians 6:12, “We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” We are in a spiritual war! God has called each of us to a duty that only we can fill according to the gifts He has given us. Not every Christian is called to be on the front lines. Each of us has a role to play as a member of the body of Christ. Just as the soldiers of God wage war on the battlefront with their firearms and artillery, so too someone is needed to run ammunition. Vision Ministry Media is born to serve that spiritual purpose: to give speakers the proper tools to boldly proclaim the truth of the gospel; and to help ministries find… their vision.

“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”
-Proverbs 29:18
